As a father of two small children, husband to a beautiful warrior goddess, carrying a day job while rehearsing music at night, and also attempting to write a book, it may seem extremely hard to find time to rekindle that spiritual flame. But not unlike a bonfire, if we do not tend to IT daily, the darkness will quickly surround us and extinguish those flames. There IS always time, time is all we have, for there is no concept of yesterday or tomorrow without the eternal living mystery of this very moment. IT may be difficult at times to stay rooted in the present moment, for our society has been built on the dreams of tomorrow, as we rush around in a hurry to reach our goals and pleasures, we overlook the importance of staying rooted within the present moment. Many turn to meditation or other techniques to re-root themselves in the present moment, as many methods are a practice of re-centering our presence, but it is in the 'seeking' of a method which keeps one from that connection.
It is wise to meditate each and every day, for only a silent mind can root us back into the present, and as they say, sometimes we have to go out of our mind to return to our senses. But what is meditation? Is it just sitting in a lotus position breathing deeply? How do we return to the moment, if meditation seems like a removal from the living world? And that answer is quite clear, meditation is just the beginning spark to open up the pathway to the heart! For the ego mind can only think of yesterday and tomorrow, which limits the expression of our being unconsciously, whereas the heart can make conscious choices throughout our eternal unfolding moment, this which is known as a walking meditation.
We are either conscious or we are unconscious, which side do you CHOOSE? If that choice is not made today, then unconscious is how we will remain, for being in the moment is a continuous conscious act, and that path continuously unfolds, whether its through a form of a walking meditation, self reflection, or through a sacred ritual act. But searching for an awakening in the tomorrow is equivalent to those who claim they will start that diet on Monday, and as we all know, tomorrow never comes!" ~Alistar Valadez...
